Rental Terms
All vehicle rentals require a Rental Agreement that will be provided at the time of booking confirmation or upon vehicle pickup. This agreement outlines the specific terms, conditions, insurance provisions, charges, and your responsibilities associated with the rental. In the event of any discrepancies between these Terms and the Rental Agreement, the Rental Agreement will take precedence.
Eligibility Criteria
Vehicle Rental Requirements
- To hire a vehicle from Car Hire in Stroud, you must be at least 21 years old, though age restrictions may differ based on the vehicle type. Drivers younger than 25 may incur additional charges. You need to possess a valid full driving license appropriate for the vehicle category, held for the duration specified in the Rental Agreement. Valid identification, proof of current address, and payment information, including a security deposit, are also required. Additional criteria may be outlined in the Rental Agreement.
Booking and Payment Information
- Reservations can be made directly through our website, by telephone, or at our Stroud office. A deposit may be needed to confirm your booking. Complete payment and a security deposit are usually required upon vehicle pickup. All prices are listed in British Pounds (£) and include VAT as applicable. We accept major credit and debit cards, processed securely with trusted payment providers.
4. Pick-Up and Drop-Off
- At the time of collection, it is essential to conduct a thorough inspection of the vehicle and report any pre-existing damage without delay. A vehicle condition report will be generated and must be signed by you. The vehicle should be returned in the same condition as it was collected, with allowances made for standard wear and tear. Any new damage will be evaluated and charged appropriately. Please return the vehicle with the same fuel level as at the start; a refueling fee will apply if the tank is not adequately filled. Late returns may incur additional fees, so please contact us as soon as possible if a delay is anticipated. You will be responsible for any parking fines, traffic infractions, or other charges incurred during the rental period, along with an administrative fee.
5. Insurance and Responsibility
- All rentals include basic third-party insurance, with comprehensive coverage details and excess amounts outlined in your Rental Agreement. You may have the option to purchase additional insurance to minimize financial liability. You will be liable for damages or losses up to the insurance excess unless further insurance is obtained. Responsibility for damage resulting from negligence or misuse remains with you, regardless of insurance coverage.
Cancellation and Modifications
Cancellation and amendment policies depend on the type of booking and the notice period provided. For detailed information, please consult your booking confirmation or Rental Agreement. Be aware that late cancellations or no-shows may incur additional charges.
7. Restricted Activities
Prohibited Uses of Vehicle
- Engaging in any illegal activities is strictly prohibited. This includes racing, rallying, off-roading, or any hazardous driving maneuvers. Transporting dangerous materials, subletting the vehicle, or allowing unauthorized drivers is not allowed. Driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs is unacceptable. Vehicles must be used for their intended purposes, and passenger or weight limits must not be exceeded. Traveling beyond the agreed geographical limits requires prior authorization.
Breach of these terms may lead to rental cancellation and fees.
Liability Limitations
To the fullest extent allowed under English and Welsh law, Car Hire Stroud is not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, including loss of profits, data, or business, resulting from your use of our services. Our total liability for any claims is limited to the amount you paid for the rental in the previous 12 months. This limitation does not affect our liability for death or personal injury resulting from negligence or for fraud.
9. Applicable Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes will be addressed in the courts of England and Wales.
10. Updates to Terms
We reserve the right to update these Terms at any time. Changes take effect immediately upon their publication on our website. Your ongoing use of our services signifies your agreement to the revised Terms.
